DINO NAMING CEREMONY
Quick and Easy Train Naming Ceremony
Turn This Into a Full Activity
Prepare two bowls or containers before guests arrive.
Label the first bowl Train First Name.
Label the second bowl Train Last Name.
Fill each bowl with folded paper slips.
When each child arrives, have them pick one slip from each bowl.
Combine the two slips to create their official train name.
Write the name on a sticker name tag or small paper train ticket.
Have each child announce their train name before joining the party.
Optional: The birthday child can be the Lead Conductor and help hand out names.
Use the train names during games, crafts, and story activities throughout the party.
Every train adventure begins with a special conductor name. As each child arrives, they pick one slip from the Train First Name bowl and one slip from the Train Last Name bowl to create their official train party name.
This is a simple, cute arrival activity that helps kids feel like they are part of the train world right away. It works especially well before train games, ticket hunts, conductor challenges, or story activities.
Each train name is created using two pieces:
Bowl 1: Train First Name
Bowl 2: Train Last Name
When combined, the names become fun train identities like Whistle Express, Coal Caboose, Rusty Rails, or Poppy Passenger.
Don’t forget name tags!
Optional Train Fun
Once all the kids have their train names, invite them to line up for a quick All Aboard Roll Call.
The adult calls out each train name one at a time, and the child answers with a train sound, like:
“Choo choo!”
“All aboard!”
“Ticket, please!”
“Full steam ahead!”
This makes the naming ceremony feel like the start of the whole party adventure.
Script for Train Naming Ceremony
“Welcome, conductors! Today, we gather at the train station to welcome new passengers, engineers, and rail riders into our world of adventure, teamwork, and choo-choo fun. Every train friend must have a name that shows their speed, spirit, and personality.
When I call your name, please step forward so your official train name can be revealed.”
(Pause and read the name from the chart or have them pull names from the containers.)
“From this moment on, you are known across the railroad by your train name. May you ride with confidence, whistle with pride, and travel full steam ahead wherever you go.”
“Train friends, please welcome our newest railroad rider! Let the train adventure begin!”
Optional group ending:
“Everyone say it together: All aboard!”
