Pass the Train Parcel
Pass the Train Parcel is a fun train birthday party game based on the classic pass-the-parcel tradition. Children pass a wrapped railroad treasure parcel around the circle while music plays, then unwrap one layer each time the music stops. Hidden inside are tiny train surprises, tickets, and a final treasure waiting to be discovered.
Activity Type: Pass the Parcel
Age Group: 3 +
Setup Time: 10 minutes
Mess Level: Low mess
Step-by-Step
Prepare the parcel — Wrap the main prize in several layers of paper. Use different colors for each layer so kids can easily see when one layer has been removed.
Add train surprises — Between some of the layers, tuck in a small train-themed prize, sticker, ticket, or challenge card.
Seat the children in a circle — Have everyone sit close enough to pass the parcel easily from one child to the next.
Start the music — Play train music, party music, or even a “choo-choo” sound while the kids pass the parcel around the circle.
Stop the music — When the music stops, the child holding the parcel unwraps one layer.
Keep passing — Start the music again and continue until all the layers have been unwrapped.
Reveal the final prize — The child who unwraps the last layer gets the final railroad treasure, or you can choose a version where every child gets a small prize.
