Kids might balance along a line of tape, hop across paper plates, zigzag through chairs, toss balls into a basket or crawl under a table tunnel. The possibilities are endless, and you can customize the course to match your party theme, age group or available space.
ROYAL OBSTACLE COURSE STATION IDEAS
Agility Ladder:
Use an athletic ladder for players to run in and out, or hop on one or two feet, skipping every other square. Crawl through putting both hands and feet in each square or skipping a square . There are endless combinations , simple or complex, to use with the agility ladder.
Cone Drills:
Set up cones in a line to run in and out or stager them to run zig-zag and have them touch the top of every cone. You can have them hop on one foot, or shuffle.
Set up two cones 10 feet apart and have them run backwards from one cone to the next , or shuffle side to side two times before moving on.
Marker/Spot Drills:
Place three rubber markers at a cone, have another cone 10' away. The players must run to move the dot to the other cone, then run back and get the second dot and do the same thing, until they've moved all the dots to the opposite cone one at a time, before moving to next obstacle.
Lay the markers out and have players hop over them on one foot or two feet, skipping every other marker
Balance Beam: Use a low balance beam for a classic stability challenge
Hurdles:
Hope over hurdles two feet or one foot at at a time.
Hop over hurdles sideways , both feet at a time
Tunnel Crawl: Crawl through a soft play tunnel or a makeshift tunnel.
Bean Bag Toss: Use a bucket or laundry basket and have the kids make 3 in the basket before moving on
Jump Rope: Kids must complete 10 jump ropes around before moving on.
Cardboard Stack: Stack 10 cardboard bricks and knock them down for the finish, because nothings more fun that blasting through a tower of blocks.
