Cross the River
A fun dinosaur party game where kids use stepping stones to cross a lava river without touching the ground. Perfect for dinosaur parties, this game builds teamwork, balance , and strategy as player hop from rock to rock without falling into the lava!

Set Up
Mark a starting line and a finish line about 15–25 feet apart to (this is the enchanted stream).
Divide players into two teams and have them line up behind the starting line.
Give each team their lava rocks
Explain that the ground between the lines is the hot lava, and players may only step on the stones to cross safely.
How to Play
Option 1: Dino Strategy Relay (Best for Older Kids)
Each team receives two lava rocks.
The first player places one stone forward and steps onto it.
They then reach back, pick up the stone behind them, and toss or place it ahead again.
Players continue leapfrogging the rocks forward until they reach the end line.
Each player on the team gets a turn.
The first team to get their players across the lava wins the round.
This version requires balance, distance judgment, and strategy.
Option 2: Dino Teamwork Crossing (Best for Younger Kids)
Each team receives three or four stepping stones.
One child becomes the Lead Dinosaur while the others are the Herd Helpers.
The lead dino moves across the lava using the stones.
Helpers pick up stones from the back and move them to the front so the lead Dino always has a safe place to step.
The team that reaches the endline first wins.
This version focuses on cooperation and teamwork rather than strategy.
Make this more magical
Lay down blue fabric or streamers to create a stream
Sprinkle a little glitter (or use shiny paper) for "fairy water"
Add a story: The fairies must cross the enchanted stream to reach their forest home-but the water is full of magic! Stay on the stones or you'll lose your fairy power.
