Fossil Explorer Treasure Book
A Dinosaur Discovery Field Journal decorating station is a hands-on dinosaur party craft where kids create their own explorer journal inspired by real paleontologists and fossil hunters. Children decorate a hidden treasure book that looks like a prehistoric field guide from the outside but opens to a secret compartment inside—perfect for storing fossils, shark teeth, mini dinosaur bones, polished stones, and excavation treasures collected during the party.

Treasure Book Craft Station Setup
This dinosaur craft station feels especially exciting because the journals look like real explorer field books but open to reveal a hidden compartment inside—perfect for storing fossils, shark teeth, polished stones, dinosaur bones, and prehistoric discoveries.
Place one blank white faux book at each seat.
Set out cups of acrylic paint markers, dinosaur stickers, explorer stickers, and pens in the center of the table. Kids can decorate the cover with dinosaur drawings, explorer names, volcanoes, fossil symbols, or “field journal” titles.
Encourage kids to imagine they are real paleontologists creating their own prehistoric discovery journal for documenting fossil finds and excavation adventures.
Don’t forget to show them how to decorate the book spine so it looks like a real explorer field guide sitting on a shelf.
Once finished, children can use the hidden compartment inside to stash their excavation treasures and dinosaur discoveries.
**Add a trinket treasure table for the kids to fill up their treasure books
